Clear Lake players earn NCC honors

Eight members of the Clear Lake baseball team and one member of the Lions softball team have received All-North Central Conference honors.

Pitcher Brock Adams, infielder Cooper Merrill and outfielder Mitch Keeran were each named to the First Team All-NCC.

Arnie Nichols

Arnie Drew Nichols, 57, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Memorial services were held on Monday, Aug. 10, at the Open Bible Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Will Hunsacker officiating. Family suggests memorials to Arnie Drew Nichols Memorial Fund.

Arnie was born July 12, 1958, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Kennedy) Nichols.  He graduated from Britt High School in 1976.

George Johan Peterson, 90, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, in Clear Lake, with Pastor Dennis Ganz officiating.  A private family inurnment was held in Elim Cemetery, rural Fertile.

In lieu of customary remembrances, family suggests memorial contributions to Elim Cemetery, Kingland Cemetery, or Hospice of North Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at  11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Research or charity of your choice.
