Total enrollment in swimming and life saving classes at the municipal beach is 153.

Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Hathaway flew from Los Angeles in 18 hours.

Tailors have decided the two back pockets in men’s trousers are not needed.  Repeal did away with the necessity for one and the depression did the rest.  Men are missing their pockets.

Norman Rutz, 26, has been named head football coach at Clear Lake High School.  Rutz will also teach mathematics at the high school.  Rutz succeeds Duane Brandt as the Lions’ grid boss.

Jewel Lovel Kiefer, 87, of Mason City, Iowa, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, Iowa

Memorial services for Jewel will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. Burial will be in Madison Twp. Cemetery, Forest City, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Jewel L. Kiefer memorial fund.

Edith Lew (Enabnit) Alsbury, 92, a resident of Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of Mason City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015.  A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at 11 a.m., at the Clear Lake Christian Church, with burial in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, Clear Lake.  Per her wishes, her body was cremated.
