It was a week of highs and lows for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team, the Cards blanked Newman, but fell to Forest City, 3-0.

Lady Vikes well represented at State Track Meet

      The Ventura girls track team will be well represented as they make a final trip to State as the Ventura Lady Vikes.
    “This will be our girls’ final trip down to State as the Ventura Lady Vikes and I cannot wait to see how proudly they will represent our community,” said Coach Laura Huber.
    The Lady Vikes placed sixth out of 14 teams at District competition held on Thursday, May 10, in Lake Mills.

The Clear Lake boys soccer team pushed some of the state’s best soccer teams to the brink in the past week, emerging with a split in match play and an 0-3 record at the Waverly Soccer Tournament.

Clear Lake girls host Early Bird Track Meet; place seventh

    The Clear Lake girls track team hosted its Early Bird Track Meet Tuesday, April 3.  Algona ran away with the team title, racking up 161 points to Bishop Garrigan’s 90.  Clear Lake placed in seven events, giving them 28 points and placing them seventh in the eight team standings.

Mathews and Spilman earn spots on Cornbelt All-Conference teams

The Ventura girls basketball team had two girls named to All-Conference teams for the Cornbelt Conference.  Emily Mathews, a sophomore, was named First Team All-Conference and Emily Spilman, a freshman, earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Lions come out on top of two OT games; move record to 9-8

   Clear Lake’s boys basketball team is hitting its stride heading into the final games of the regular season.  The Lions, who have won six of their last seven outings, came from behind to defeat Hampton-Dumont and St.
