A win and a loss for GHV

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys split a pair of conference games last week, moving their record to 3-2.

It was a successful night on the home court for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys basketball team Tuesday, Dec. 10.  Not only did the Cardinals beat West Hancock, they also set a new school record by making 37 free throws.

Area football players earn All-State honors

Three members of the Clear Lake football team and one member of the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura football team were named to the Iowa Newspaper Association’s 2013 All-State Football selections Tuesday, Nov. 26.  

Cardinals sweep Lions in Regional opener

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team used an aggressive offense to defeat Clear Lake in the opening round of Regional volleyball Monday night at Garner.  The Cardinals swept the Lions, 25-15, 25-15, 25-7.

CL volleyball team opens season at Clarion Tournament

 

The Clear Lake volleyball team got its season off to a good start, going 2-3 in match play and 6-6 in sets at the Clarion Volleyball Tournament played Saturday.

The Lions posted wins over Northeast Hamilton (21-11, 21-15) and Eagle Grove (21-10, 21-10).  Clear Lake opened with a 22-20 win against Clarion-Goldfield, then dropped the second game 21-15 and fell in the third, 15-11.  A third and deciding game was also needed against CAL-Latimer.  CAL won the first two, 15-11, 22-20; the Lions dominated the third, 21-11.

Hamilton to represent CLHS in Iowa Shrine All-Star Football game

 

Clear Lake High School football standout Bryson Hamilton, a 2013 CLHS graduate, will be playing in the 2013 Iowa Shrine All-Star football game on Saturday, July 27 at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.

Lions can boast best record in the state

 

With six more wins in the past week, Clear Lake improved to 20-1 overall and 9-0 in the North Central Conference.  The top ranked team in Class 3A currently has the best record of any team in the entire state in any class.

Larson crowned champion; other G-H/V events also do well

 

The State Track Meet is the perfect time to peak, and that’s exactly what the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls track team did.  They represented their school very well at State, bringing home new school records and an 11th place team finish.
