(Above) Learning about bank loans, 1971 - Ken Bales, vice president of the Community State Bank, chatted with fourth grade Sunset students of Mrs. Dean Gilles in 1971.  the students were preparing to pay back a loan they took out in May.  The class borrowed $440 on a bonafide loan to finance a “sellathon” at the school.  The project was a success and they paid off the indebtedness, plus interest.

On Dec. 7, 1936, David Judson Fisher entered the world, dressed to the nines, wearing the charming smile his friends and family would come to see so often throughout his life. He was born in Boone, Iowa to Harold and Alice (Judson) Fisher. David was the third child blessed into the Fisher family — Alice “Bebe” Arbuckle, and Robert “Bob” Lee Fisher. 

David leaves behind his wife, Dorie (Onthank) Fisher, whom he met when she moved a few doors down in Clear Lake in 1955.

Jeffrey J. Giesman, 49, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by family after being diagnosed with a form of leukemia.
