Phyllis J. Morrison

Phyllis Jean (Galloway) Morrison, died of complications due to the coronavirus, at Ridgecrest Village, in Davenport, Iowa, on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020.

She was born Aug. 13, 1924, in the Washington County Hospital. Phyllis lived happily with her parents, Earl and Ruth Galloway. They moved to Garden City, Kan., where she graduated from high school in 1942, and then relocated back to their Washington farm. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and enjoyed playing percussion instruments in bands and orchestras, both in high school and in college.

Harriet H. Winter

Harriet H. Winter, 92, of Clear Lake passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at Oakwood Care Center, with her husband at her side.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Harlan Seri officiating.

In honor of Harriet, memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church to be utilized for Operation Christmas Child.

Robert L. Broghammer

Robert Leo Broghammer, D.D.S., 79, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at Good Shepherd Health Center, in Mason City.

Per Robert’s wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program for medical research. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake, with Rev. John Gossman officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Cedar Rapids, at a later date.

Shirley Ingersoll, a longtime resident of Clear Lake, died in her home on Monday, March 9, 2020. She was 93 years old.

A private celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

A live stream of the services will be offered through the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels Facebook page.

  Memorials may be given to St. John’s Church and the Clear Lake Public Library.

(Above) Ventura Homecoming, 1995 - All Ventura students got into the spirit of Homecoming in 1995.  Each class thought of its own theme and participated in a Homecoming parade following a pep assembly.  Andy Luscomb and Ellie Pueggel were crowned as the Ventura High School Homecoming king and queen.
