Jayne Marie Lupkes, 61, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, in Mason City.

A private memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Al Berge officiating.

Shirley A. Rasmussen

Shirley Ann Rasmussen, 62, of Bartow, Fla., formerly from Clear Lake, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at home with her family.

There will be a celebration of life in Clear Lake to be planned for a later date.

Shirley was born Dec. 20, 1957, to Troy and Anna (Conner) Knapp, in Wheaton, Minn.

She graduated from Charles City High School in 1976 before going on to graduate from NIACC and the University of Northern Iowa with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

One never knows when their life’s path will lead them back to familiar faces and places.

Over 40 years ago, Roger and Marilyn Ritter stood on an empty plot of land that would one day become Handicap Village, now known as One Vision.  As the young couple helped prepare the land for the organization’s first cottages, it is probably safe to say they would have never expected to return to that spot years later.

Council approves price hike for vacation rental permit fee

Owners of vacation properties in Clear Lake will soon be notified of an increase in permit fees.  The Clear Lake City Council approved raising the yearly fee from $150 to $500 per year at its Monday night, Sept. 21, meeting.
