(Above) Ventura Homecoming, 1995 - All Ventura students got into the spirit of Homecoming in 1995.  Each class thought of its own theme and participated in a Homecoming parade following a pep assembly.  Andy Luscomb and Ellie Pueggel were crowned as the Ventura High School Homecoming king and queen.

Harriet H. Winter

Harriet H. Winter, 92, of Clear Lake passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at Oakwood Care Center, with her husband at her side.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Harlan Seri officiating.

In honor of Harriet, memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church to be utilized for Operation Christmas Child.

CL volleyball team tops Mason City

The Clear Lake volleyball team went 1-2 in action last week, topping Mason City and falling to Iowa Falls-Alden and Charles City.

IF-A 3, CL 0

The team traveled to Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to play the 4-2 Cadets.  A solid IF-A team all three matches with scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-10.

City approves incentives for $3 million development along Highway 122

The Clear Lake City Council has unanimously approved a development agreement with Flatrock Group LLC which will facilitate a $3 million project in the newly opened Courtway Park Subdivision north of Highway 122 just east of Interstate 35.

City Administrator Scott Flory reviewed the project with the City Council at its Tuesday, Sept. 8 meeting.
