Sandra “Sandi” Kay Schlichting, 73, of Clear Lake, was called to heaven after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer.  She was surrounded by her family at home, on Oct. 31, 2020, which was the same day her father William entered heaven 16 years prior.  Her mother, Dorothy, passed on Oct. 30 of the same year.

Surf Ballroom announces Winter Dance Party lineup

The historic Surf Ballroom® has announced the lineup for its limited capacity, socially-distanced 2021 Winter Dance Party®.  The world-renowned event will be held Feb. 3-6 at the legendary ballroom in Clear Lake.

Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The historic Surf Ballroom® has announced the lineup for its limited capacity, socially-distanced 2021 Winter Dance Party®.  The world-renowned event will be held Feb. 3-6 at the legendary ballroom in Clear Lake.

Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

An announcement is expected very soon about the location for a unique “Everybody Plays” playground in Clear Lake.

The Everybody Plays playground committee has announced it has met its fundraising goal for an all-inclusive playground and groundbreaking will take place in Spring 2021.

County health experts concerned about COVID spread

Cerro Gordo health experts pleaded with the public to be conscientious about the spread of COVID-19 at a joint press conference between MercyOne and Cerro Gordo Public Health on Monday, Nov. 9.

Dr. Paul Manternach, Chief Medical Officer at MercyOne, and Brian Hanft, the county’s Director of Public Health, spoke on Monday about the rapid spread of the disease and the impact it is having on the area’s healthcare system.
