A number of awards were given in conjunction with the 1993 4th of July parade.  Above, a group from 5th Avenue South won the neighborhood float contest with this entry.  The neighborhood received a block party.  (Right) The Clear Lake High School Lion Tamers and football captains decorated this vehicle to look like a lion, earning them second place and $25 in the non-commercial youth category.

The Clear Lake School Board has approved the sale of Sunset Elementary School, 408 Mars Hill Dr., to a Waterloo developer.

The Board finalized the sale at its Tuesday, June 19 meeting, however, the Dolly James LLC., of Waterloo, Iowa has agreed to not close on the property until the school district has completed an addition at Clear Creek Elementary which will accommodate preschoolers who have been attending classes at Sunset.

Stolen vehicle chase on I-35 ends in Clear Lake

Theiss has been a fixture in the Clear Lake business community for 45 years and has lent his support and talents to schools, veterans programs, the Chamber and economic development efforts to name just a few.

Donald “Pork Chop” Welty, 89, of Clear Lake, was called home Friday, June 15, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, June 30, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, where a Masonic Service will be said at 3 p.m., followed by military honors conducted by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Upsala Lutheran Church Cemetery, Richwood, Minn.
