Week ends on an upswing for Cardinals

The week ended on an upswing for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team when they picked up two wins against Nashua Plainfield and Lake Mills.  The wins moved the Cardinal’s record to 3-10.

Kristi Kay Gruetzmacher, 56, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Hospice of North Iowa – Inpatient Unit.

A service was held on Tuesday, June 19, at One Vision Campus, 1200 North 9th Street West, Clear Lake, with pastor Scott Sokol officiating.

Burial was held in the St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery, Westgate.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Kristi Gruetzmacher Memorial Fund.

Darcie Raye Nettifee-Vasquez died Friday, June 8, 2018, after being in a traffic accident in southern Kansas.

Her body was creamated in Kansas and remains will be returned home for “A Celebration of Life,” which will be held for all friends and relatives on Saturday, June 23, starting at 11 a.m., in the Washington Charlie Brown, 700 North Washington, Mason City.  Any memorial contributions can be sent to 709 North 13th Street, Clear Lake, IA 50428.

Freedom Rock for the county finds a home in Clear Lake

(Above) A crew from Dean Snyder Construction skillfully placed a 16-ton rock, which will become the Cerro Gordo County Freedom Rock, near 8th Street and Main Avenue Monday.  The rock, which measures approximately 11-feet long and is seven-feet wide and high, was donated by Dennis and Jody Lewerke, of Clear Lake.
