The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team stretched its losing record to seven straight games, as they dropped two more outings last week.

If the Cardinals could have started the Monday night game against Osage as they finished it, the outcome would have been a whole different story.

Wa-Tan-Ye Club luau, 1968 - Losers in an attendance contest for the Wa-Tan-Ye Club had to serve the winners a Hawaiian luau in 1968.  Traditional food was served and a Hawaiian atmosphere prevailed in music, costumes and decorations.  A guest, Mrs. Jack Palmeter, who had spent years on the islands, interpreted the hula for an appreciative audience.

  Russell Duane Truax, age 90, of Osage, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at the I.O.O.F. Home, in Mason City.

  Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 9, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, in Osage, with Pastor Dave Byrd, Chaplain of I.O.O.F. Home, in Mason City, officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920. 

Naomi W. Brandt, 94, of Clear Lake, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 7, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Pastor David Peterson officiating.  Inurnment was at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Clear Lake Public Library or to Hospice of North Iowa.
