No injuries as excavator breaks through lake ice

A crew from Tony’s Tire Service worked for more than five hours Monday night to pull a Yohn Co. excavator from the lake.

Another Leisure will take center mat at State wrestling meet

In recent years the name Leisure has become synonymous with the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament.  Afterall, Clear Lake’s Ryan Leisure won three titles before graduating last May.  This year, the spotlight on the center mat at the Wells Fargo Arena will shine on Mallory Leisure when the State Meet pageantry begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15.

The Clear Lake Lions will send 10 grapplers to Districts this Saturday, Feb. 10, at Aplington-Parkersburg.  First and second place winners in each weight class will advance to the State Meet Feb. 15-17 in Des Moines.

Girls Regional play to begin

Clear Lake High School will host the first two rounds of the girls Class 3A Region 2 play starting Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Lions will meet Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in the first round at 7 p.m. Saturday.  The winner will advance to play either Iowa Falls-Alden or Hampton-Dumont at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at CLHS.

The Regional final will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Garner.
