Aggression needed to move GHV girls to next level

A sense of urgency and some aggression is what the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team is needing to step up their game according to Coach Kelsey Edwards.  The Cardinals fell to Lake Mills, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at home.  Lake Mills is rated seventh in the latest Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union poll in Class 2A.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Josephine Quinn, 83, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating.  Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Betty Ann Horstman

Betty Ann Horstman, 80, of Boone, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 24, 2017 at Boone County Hospital.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, Boone.  Burial was held in the Center Cemetery, in rural Story City, Iowa.

Eugene M. Bachman

Eugene “Gene” Merlin Bachman, 84, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Good Shepherd Health Center, in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor David Peterson officiating.  Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery, in Klemme, Iowa.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Clear Lake.
