(Above) Pumpkin grower in 1967In 1967, David Miller, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, measured one of his 45 pumpkins, the yield of one plant and three years in the growing.  Miss Donna Dull, a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln School, gave each class member a plant three years ago and each year Miller saved the seeds and replanted them in a garden belonging to his grandfather, Roscoe Miller.

GHV boys qualify; Christians will represent girls team

It was a day of celebration for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura cross country team when they ran at Fox Ridge Golf Course, in Dike, in the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet on Thursday, Oct. 19.  The team captured the title and will compete as a team in the State Meet to be held in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Oct. 28.  Abby Christians qualified for the girls team with a seventh place finish.

Lions stage a comeback to defeat GHV in Regional volleyball action
