William Nelson

William “Bill” Leonard Nelson, 80, of Clear Lake, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Gideons International (100 percent goes to bibles).

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City, Iowa.

Marilyn Frank, 83, of Clear Lake, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.  Her son and daughter were at her side.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating.  Inurnment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Remember When 6-7-2017

(Above) Showboat, 1967 - The Showboat was launched in Clear Lake in 1962.  In 1967, the boat was loaded up and was shipped to Lake Erie on a flat car.  Clear Lake has had excursion boats since 1909 when the Princess was launched.  The Princess was shipped unassembled on a flat car to Clear Lake.

(Above) 1967 tornado - Shelled corn was left in a scattered mound on the ground and bins were flattened by a tornado in May 1962 on the Bill Wilson farm.  The house received down spout damage and damage to the roof and chimneys.  Trees were toppled and debris was scattered for three miles.  About eight farms around the area were extensively damaged and four homes in Clear Lake reported damage.
