CL girls track team wraps up season

The Clear Lake girls track team finished up their season at the District Meet Friday in Charles City.  The Lions did not qualify any events for State, but ended the season with some of their best performances.

Deborah won the District with 152 points, followed by Iowa Falls-Alden with 138.5o.  The Lions were eighth in the field with 28 points.

The Lions didn’t play their best tennis, but came away with a win against Waverly-Shell Rock May 6 at home.  Clear Lake split singles matches with the Go-Hawks, but won two of three doubles matches for the 5-4 victory.

“Tonight we were fortunate to come out with a win.  We were impatient and made a lot of unforced errors as a team,” said Coach Rich Peters.

The Lions ruled the oval at the Central Springs Panther Relays Monday, May 6.  Clear Lake won its fourth meet of the season with 156 points.  Central Springs was runner-up in the eight-team field with 134 points.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys golf team placed fourth in the Top of Iowa Conference Meet held in Armstrong on Monday, May 6.

“I was very happy with the fourth place finish,” said Coach Ken Krause.  “Fourth out of the nine-team field was great after losing members from last year’s team.”

GHV girls soccer team falls to Aplington-Parkersburg

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team faced Aplington-Parkersburg on Thursday, May 2, at home.  The Falcons handed the Cardinals a big, 5-1, loss.

Chloe Johnson scored GHV’s lone goal.  She also had two shots on goal and one corner kick.  Alison Johnson also had two shots on goal.
