Lions looking strong as Sectionals and Districts draw near

It was a great week to be a Clear Lake wresting fan.  The Lions posted some exciting wins against North Iowa competition and are looking strong as Sectional and District Tournament time approaches.

CL 48, Charles City 34

The Lions finished off their regular season home stands with a win over Charles City on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

The meet started at 285, where Lester moved Kade Hambly up against the Comets’ heavy weight.

“We may, in actuality, have overpaid them quite a bit,” Clear Lake Superintendent Doug Gee told School Board members at their Tuesday, Jan. 8, meeting.

Unseasonable weather forces race postponement; kites questionable

Unseasonably warm temperatures have taken a toll on ice conditions on Clear Lake, as well as the events that rely on it.

Organizers of “The Jack” Helgren Memorial Race have announced that they have moved the event from its original date this weekend to Feb. 8-9.

Conditions on the lake are simply “too dangerous,” according to Gary McVicker, from the North Iowa Snow Seekers.
