From Shark Tank presentations to ACT prep, ‘J Term’ challenges Clear Lake High School students

Clear Lake High School students got to hit the refresh button on their curriculum when they headed back to classes this month. In an effort to “do something different” during the school year, Clear Lake High School Principal Chris Murphy said  a January term, or “J term,” is underway.

Lions edged by Go-Hawks, 55-53

The Clear Lake Lions skidded into the holiday break with three straight losses.  On Thursday, Dec. 20, the Lions were edged by Waverly-Shell Rock, 55-53.

The Go-Hawks (8-1) entered the game ranked eighth among Class 4A schools by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association; the Lions (6-3) were ranked fourth in Class 3A.

“We were firing on all cylinders tonight,” said Head Coach Mike Lester.

GHV Cardinals battle to the end with Humboldt Wildcats

The gym was rocking in Humboldt Thursday night, Dec. 20, when the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys took on the Wildcats.  The two evenly matched teams who sported similar records, GHV with a 5-2 TIC record and Humboldt with a 5-3 record, fought until the very end.
