GHV Cardinals battle to the end with Humboldt Wildcats

The gym was rocking in Humboldt Thursday night, Dec. 20, when the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys took on the Wildcats.  The two evenly matched teams who sported similar records, GHV with a 5-2 TIC record and Humboldt with a 5-3 record, fought until the very end.

GHV girls fall in heartbreaker

Despite leading for most of the game, the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls (5-2, 5-4) couldn’t hang on at the end and dropped a one-point heartbreaker to Humboldt (3-6) on Thursday, Dec. 20.

The team was plagued by unfortunate events throughout the game, including a player getting hurt and two players fouling out.

As the new year begins, we take a look back at the stories which made headlines in 2018.

(Above) Hitching a ride in 1968 - This snowmobile was providing transportation for these fellows on skates in 1968.  Pictured (L-R) is Greg Nicholas, Ed Schick, Steve Schick and Jeff Heine.  This group admitted they were glad that it got cold enough to freeze the lake over on Dec. 5.
