Electrical problem suspected in rural Clear Lake barn fire

This barn on the Shannon and John Furst property was completely destroyed by fire Saturday morning.  The Fursts say they will miss the barn, but are thankful for the efforts of Clear Lake and Ventura firefighters who protected their home.

Clear Lake hires teacher to lead new ag curriculum

Excitement is high for the launch of an agriculture program at Clear Lake Schools.

Tuesday night the Clear Lake Board of Education approved the hiring of Elisa Russ to lead the curriculum.   According to Superintendent Doug Gee, Russ was one of eight inteviewed for the position.  She will graduate from Iowa State University in May with a bachelor of science degree in Agriculture and Life Sciences Education.

From Shark Tank presentations to ACT prep, ‘J Term’ challenges Clear Lake High School students

Clear Lake High School students got to hit the refresh button on their curriculum when they headed back to classes this month. In an effort to “do something different” during the school year, Clear Lake High School Principal Chris Murphy said  a January term, or “J term,” is underway.
