Iris Mae Myers-Deckard, 59, of Clear Lake, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

A Celebration of Life will be was held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.

  Inurnment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Justin Hughes

Colonel Justin Russell Hughes, U.S. Army, Ret., 76, of Stafford, Va. passed away on Monday, Nov.12, 2018 at his home.

A service was held on Monday, Nov. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Richard A. Wempen, 82, of Clear Lake passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, surrounded by family, at St. Mary’s Heart Center Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 19, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.  Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery, in Clear Lake.

Arts Center surpasses capital campaign goal

The Clear Lake Arts Center’s capital campaign has surpassed its capital campaign goal with over $410,000 raised.

“The Clear Lake Arts Center Arts Alive capital campaign is a community success story,” said Tom Lovell, campaign co-chair.  “We are so grateful to all the donors and campaign volunteers for making this happen,” adding a special thanks to Steering Committee members Kathy Ingram, Jane Fogg and Paula Hanus.

Woman falls through ice on Fieldstone Pond

The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 1622 N. 24th Street, Clear Lake, at approximately 3:36 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, for a female subject that had fallen through the ice and was submerged in the waters of the Fieldstone Pond.

Kelsey Boehnke, 28, of Clear Lake, had gone out onto the ice to try and rescue her dog that had wondered onto the ice, when she fell through becoming submerged in the water.
