A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Isabelle Marie Molan on Saturday, May 26, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Clear Lake, at 10:30 a.m.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Building Fund in Clear Lake.

Born Isabelle Marie Molan in 1926, to Roy and Isabelle (Peters) Molan, in Minneapolis, Minn., Bel passed away on Friday, Feb.16, 2018, at Wesley Acres Hospice, in Des Moines, surrounded by family.

Success at the State Track Meet

(Above) Clear Lake’s Tracy Mixdorf competed in both the shuttle hurdle relay and the 400 meter hurdles.  The shuttle hurdle team, also including Olivia Amos, Ashley Archer and Makia Fessler, placed 18th.  Mixdorf placed 21st in the 400 hurdles.

The blue oval was good to Clear Lake and GHV runners, as personal best times were used for placements in several events at the State Track Meet in Des Moines.

Natalie M. Quinn

Natalie M. Quinn, 88, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018, at Legacy Gardens Senior Living Community, in Iowa City.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave South, Clear Lake, where Natalie was a member.   A private graveside service will be held at the Bingham Township Cemetery.

Jones advances to State Tennis Tournament

Clear Lake’s Gretchen Jones earned her second trip to the State tennis tournament by finishing first in the Regional tourney held Wednesday, May 16, in Decorah.

With a number one seed and first round bye, Jones defeated Josie Kleckner, of  Decorah, 6-1 6-1 in Second Round action.  In the semi-finals, she battled Waverly’s Olivia Phillips for every point until she forced and won a tie breaker to take the first set 7-6 (7-5).

Lions looking for a repeat

The Clear Lake boys golf team will battle to add another State championship to their school’s history this week in Fort Dodge.  The Lions, who were the Class 2A State champion last season, shot a 309 at Friday’s Regional meet at Pin Oak Golf Club in Manchester to advance to the Class 3A championship this season.  Defending Class 3A champion Central DeWitt edged the Lions at the regional meet with a score of 306.
