Clear Lake was ready when an estimated 10,000 cyclists and 45,000 others descended on the town Tuesday for an overnight stop during the Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa.

Fire quickly destroys Clear Lake twin home

Geraldine "Gerry" L. Trebil

Geraldine "Gerry" L. Trebil, 94 of Mason City, Iowa, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 28 at Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City.  Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, July 27 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

(Above) A large dumpster from Absolute Waste has replaced the usual collection bins for cans and bottles at the Clear Lake Fareway Store. The Chamber of Commerce and One Vision will continue to collect cans through RAGBRAI this Tuesday, July 25.  Beyond that date, another plan is being investigated to take care of the can and bottle recycling in Clear Lake.
