Daniel D. Anderson, Sr., of Clear Lake and Apache Junction, Az. passed away on Feb. 20, 2017, in Apache Junction.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Sept 10, at the VFW in Clear Lake, from 1-4 p.m.

Vernon G. Bailey

Vernon Gene Bailey, 75, of Swaledale, Iowa, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Good Shepherd Health Center. in Mason City, Iowa.

Per Vernon’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Pastor Nancy Hofmeister officiating.  Inurnment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Vernon Bailey Memorial Fund.

Showing their spirit on the road

Clear Lake High School students showed their spirit at Webster City Friday night by dressing in a Hawaiian theme.  The colorful group had plenty to cheer about early, as the Lions were up 20-7 at the half, but eventually fell 41-27.  The students are sure to be on the road again this week, as Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura play their Class 2A District 2 opener at Garner.
