The Forest City Indians ended Garner-Hayfield-Ventura’s dream of heading to the State baseball Tournament on Saturday, July 15.  Forest City defeated the Cardinals, 5-0, in the Class 2A District final.  This was the third consecutive shut-out for the Indians and their 12th of the season.

DeVries to coach in Shrine Bowl

Clear Lake Head Football coach Jared DeVries will be an assistant coach for the North Squad at this year’s Shrine Bowl game.

The 45th annual game will be held on Saturday, July 29, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Tickets for the game can be purchased on the Shrine Bowl website or at the door the day of the game.

Mary Ann Flaten, 79, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at her home.

A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, with Pastor Scot McCluskey officiating.  Inurnment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

  Family suggests memorial contributions to One Vision, previously Opportunity Village, or to Galilean Lutheran Church, in Clear Lake.
