Council hears of plan for animal sanctuary

Clear Lake City Council members heard from a small group which plans to construct an animal sanctuary in Clear Lake.

Judy Siems, founder and executive director of the non-profit Glady Mae Animal Sanctuary in Minnetonka, Minn., said she is pursuing purchase of property in Clear Lake for care, rehabilitation, training and end-of-life care for dogs and cats.

The Council listened to a brief description of the animal sanctuary from Siems, but did not comment on the plan.

Times improving for CL girls track team

The Clear Lake girls finished in eighth place at the North Central Conference Tournament held Thursday, May 5.  Algona ran away with the title, chalking up 165 points.  Humboldt was second with 116, narrowly defeating Webster City, which had 114.  Clear Lake finished with 36 points.

  Kathleen J. King, 72, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating and Msgr. Joseph Slepicka, Msgr. John Hemann, and Deacon Matt Berry concelebrating.  Inurnment was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Kathleen J. King

Kathleen J.  King, 72, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Clear Lake.  Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm Friday,  May 13 at the church with a Scriptural Wake Service beginning at 6:30 pm.  Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minn.

Robert L. Replogle, MD, 84, of Chicago, Ill. died Monday, May 9, at the University of Chicago Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
