Stephen Lahner, 64, of Clear Lake, died Monday, May 9, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, in Rochester, Minn.

Arrangements are pending at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

(Above) Earmarked for distruction in 1991 -  The present Ventura Post Office and Public Library building was finally declared as the site for a new building to house the two facilities in 1991.  The Library Building Committee decided to raze the building.  The idea had been protested, but officials said they feared losing many of the donations to the effort if they changed the original plan.

CL girls soccer team picks up two more wins

The Clear Lake girls soccer team improved their record to 4-2 last week with an exciting victory in overtime.

The Lions resumed action after a long break on Monday, May 2.  The Lions struggled to get back in the groove and fell to Iowa Falls-Alden, 4-0.

NCC Meet

The Clear Lake girls finished in eighth place at the North Central Conference Tournament held Thursday, May 5.  Algona ran away with the title, chalking up 165 points.  Humboldt was second with 116, narrowly defeating Webster City, which had 114.  Clear Lake finished with 36 points.
