The Clear Lake girls tennis team squeezed a lot of their season into one week- and they did it very successfully.

It was a tough week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team, as they dropped three games, moving their record to 1-3.

The Cardinals faced Webster City on Monday, April 23.  The Lynx won the match, 2-1.

“Webster City is always a quality opponent and very fundamental,” said Coach Eric Williams.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura trapshooting team has gotten its season underway.

Ashley Moorehead, a member of GHV trapshooting team, earned fourth place honors in the female division after a double shoot off at the Central Springs Invite held in Osage, on Saturday, April 28.  She claimed the honor with a score of 43.

After battling adverse weather most of the season, the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys track team had a perfect night to compete at the Vikings Co-Ed Relays in Northwood on Monday, April 23.

“The boys took advantage of the nice night,” said Coach Kelsey Edwards.  “We had six individuals run personal bests.  Now that we’re able to be outside we are excited to fine tune the handoffs, hurdle form and throwing techniques.”

Leona E. Taylor

Leona E. Taylor, 72, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa, after a brief diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer.

Per Leona’s wishes, her body has been cremated.  Visitation was held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Pastor Mark Doebel leading a time of sharing. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, at a later date.

David D. Morrison

David Dow Morrison, 49, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Floyd County Medical Center, in Charles City.

Per his family’s wishes, David’s body has been cremated and a private Celebration of Life will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery, in Clear Lake, at a later date.

In lieu of customary remembrances, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Comprehensive Systems, Inc., c/o Jean Shannon; 1700 Clark St.; Charles City, Iowa 50616.
