Steve Martin, a lifelong resident of Clear Lake, died at his home in the Meadow Lake apartment complex on Buddy Holly Place on Feb. 6. The cause was complications of Influenza A. He was 62.

Steven Alfred Martin was born in Mason City on Aug. 11, 1954, to Roy B. Martin Jr., who was a postmaster in Clear Lake, and the former Eileen G. Anderson, a bookkeeper and homemaker. He grew up in the house on North Fourth Street where his family had lived for more than a century.

Thomas Edward Keenan, 69, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at Hospice of the Valley-Lund Home in Gilbert, Az.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating.

Inurnment was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, in Mason City, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

Thomas E. Keenan, 69, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the Lund Home-Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Az.

Arrangements are pending at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Frances “Fran” Lorraine Tibbits, 94, Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Fertile Lutheran Church, 602 W. Washington St., Fertile, Iowa, with Pastor Dave Halverson officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Florence St., Rake, Iowa, with Pastor Doug Rokke officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Faught and Leisure onto State Wrestling Tourney

Two Clear Lake wrestlers will compete for a State title this week in Des Moines.

Ryan Leisure has the opportunity to become Clear Lake High School’s first three time State Champion, while Eric Faught is looking for his first title.  He was runner-up at 106 last season.

Clear Lake senior and two-time State Champion wrestler Ryan Leisure has been selected as a Class 2A 2017 Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler finalist.

Leisure has been invited to attend the 2017 Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler Award Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines, where the winners will be announced.
