Magdalene “Maggie” Elizabeth Reed, age 91, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the IOOF Home in Mason City, Iowa.

  Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, in Osage, Iowa, with Pastor Andy Reed officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery.

Lake’s ice is out, Lady is coming in

“Ice-out” was declared on Clear Lake Thursday, March 23, clearing the way for the installation of docks like this one for the Lady of the Lake at the Sea Wall.  The ice-out date turned out to be fairly typical, after an extremely warm February had everyone thinking of a new record.  Last year, the ice out was called on March 16.-Reporter photo by Chris Barragy.

A much-larger than usual crowd attended Friday’s Legislative Forum, hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

They wanted to talk; and they wanted House Speaker Linda Upmeyer (R-Clear Lake) and Senator Amanda Ragan (D-Mason City) to listen.
