Cardinals primed for post-season

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys finished the regular season with a win over Eagle Grove.  The team ended the regular season by finishing second in the Top of Iowa West Division Conference with a record of 14-2.  West Hancock was the conference leader with a record of 15-1.

GHV girls end season with disappointing losses

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls dropped their final two games of the regular season and were defeated in a close contest in the opening round of playoffs to end their 2015-16 season.

Ann Norlene Baago, 69, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her children, her husband, Harry, and her beloved kitties.

A Celebration of Life service and burial will be held at a later time to be announced.

Richard Hopper

Richard H. Hopper, 92, of Ventura, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

  Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Ventura, with the Rev. Jesse Burns officiating.  Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery, in Garner, with military rites by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

  Memorials may be directed to the Richard Hopper Memorial Fund.

Dorothy J. Wonsmos, of Clear Lake, went to heaven on her 78th birthday on Feb. 4, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Upon Dorothy’s wishes, a service was held on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton, Iowa.

R. Robert Hollibaugh

  R. Robert Hollibaugh, 92, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at his daughter’s home in Aurelia, where he and his wife have made their home since December of 2015.

Memorial services will be at a later date in Winfield, Kansas. The Redig Funeral Home, in Aurelia, is in charge of local arrangements.
