Meeting a challenge has its rewards

Students at Clear Creek Elementary cheered and celebrated Friday as they all took part in duct taping Principal Mike Barkley to the cafeteria wall.  The students successfully reached their goal of completing 2,000 acts of kindness between mid-October and World Kindness Day on Nov. 13.

A young driver and his passenger escaped serious injury Sunday when the car they were traveling in left an ice-covered roadway and landed on its roof.

Ornaments ready on 26th annual Giving Tree

The Giving Tree at the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter is off to a strong start, but more than 100 ornaments remain available for giving persons to choose and purchase anonymous gifts for local families.

The 26th annual Giving Tree is now on display in the Mirror-Reporter office, 12 N. 4th St.

Sign-up forms for the Giving Tree have already been distributed in the Clear Lake School District.  They were also sent home with those attending Head Start and Lake Town Charlie Brown.

Dianne Rogene Bailey

Dianne Rogene Bailey, 81, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Mark Doebel officiating.  Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Dianne Bailey Memorial Fund.

Dianne Rogene Bailey, 81, Clear Lake, passed away Thurs., Nov. 19, 2015  at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.  A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wed., Nov. 25, 2015 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.  Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m., Tues., Nov. 24, 2015, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Barbara Duitscher

Barbara Duitscher, 91, of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, in Mason City.

Per her wishes she has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be directed to Opportunity Village, and cards can be sent to Jody Babinat, 704 13th Street, Grundy Center, Iowa, 50638.
