Clear Lake Classical School may expand to seventh grade

Encouraged by steady growth, Clear Lake Classical has announced it will expand its school to serve students in pre-kindergarten through grade four next year, with the possibility of also adding grades five to seven.

Headmaster Cory Gerdts said the private Christian school, which is in its second year of operation in Clear Lake, will review its enrollment requests in April and make a decision about its 2017-18 class structure.

Three Lions earn NCC recognition

Three members of the Clear Lake boys basketball team have received All-North Central Conference honors.

The Lions’ one-two scoring punch of Zach Lester and Thomas Storbeck, who helped the team to an 11-3 record in the league, were First Team All-NCC selections.  Lester was a unanimous pick.  Drew Enke was a Third Team selection.

All five GHV starters receive TIC West honors

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys basketball team was well represented on the TIC West All-Conference teams.  After going undefeated in league play with a 16-0 record, and earning a berth in the State tournament, the accolades are well deserved.  All five of the Cardinal starters earned recognition.

The building at 312 and 314 Main Avenue began coming down Monday to make room for the expansion of Clear Lake Bank and Trust.  Crews from Dean Snyder Construction, Clear Lake, worked with the Clear Lake Historical Society to preserve the “97” medallion which appeared in the center of the upper level arches.  Beth Ann Schumacher, from the Historical Society, said the piece was able to be saved in six pieces.  It was thought the medallion was probably mad
